Strengthening Public Participation: Local Dialogues

The aim of the Local Dialogue series is to strengthen the overall political transition process in Yemen. This project is funded by the European Commission, and implemented by the Political Development Forum, with the conceptual, methodological, administrative and expert support of the Berghof foundation within the frame of the National Dialogue Support Program.

The objective is to support the political participation of Yemeni citizens and main stakeholders (e.g. political parties, women, youth, civil society, businesses) at the governorate level.

Hereby, key concerns are to:

  • Supporting the political participation of Yemeni citizens and the main stakeholders (political parties and movements, women, youth, civil society, businesses, etc.) at the governorate level.
  • Ensuring that specific interests and concerns of the governorates are formulated and linked to the NDC, the subsequent implementation process as well as to the overall political transition process.
  • Supporting and strengthening democratic dialogue and conflict prevention mechanisms at the governorate level.
  • Improving the quality and sustainability of the NDC outcomes and follow-up mechanisms at local level.

Who:

  • Members of political parties and movements, women, youth, civil society, business representatives.
  • Local coordinators and facilitators in each governorate.
  • Technical support by the National Dialogue Support Programme (NDSP).
  • Financial support by the European Union.
  • Implemented by the Political Development Forum.
